Our first fundamental! (click here)

Where does anxiety really come from? If you ask me it’s a breakdown of our fundamentals. I am getting ready to coach my daughters t-ball team soon and fundamentals are going to be key and that’s the way it is for your walk with God.

If you look at a lot of the mistakes we make, most of them stem from a lack of trust. When we fail to trust the Lord as we should that causes a chain reaction in our thought process. And when your under pressure you need to rely on your first fundamental, trust!

Without trust you’ll rush to make a bad decision or a knee jerk reaction to something. You could be in an argument over something silly and by not trusting the Lord, your speech and your actions will no doubt make things worse.

Good old fashion trust in the Lord is what we need most. It begins with a solid prayer life, without it we’ll never build our level of trust up. Everything in our lives must come before the Lord in prayer, everything.  Try this, write your requests in a notebook and later look back so you can see how God answered. Do that and you’ll build up your first fundamental, trust!

But I trust in you, O LORD; I say, “You are my God.”

Psalm 31:14 (NIV)

“Lord, teach me how to take pressure off myself by trusting You instead. Amen.”

Ask God to teach you and you’ll always be able to say later, “God Taught Me!”

Right on about the knee jerk reaction. Sometimes we allow our selves to be blindsided by circumstances and want to react in a way that is not pleasing to our lord. I have learned not to worry about things I can’t, or are unable to control because God’s plan is certainly better than anything we can think of. And he always answers our prayers.

Prayer is the answer and it works. Why not take that knee jerk reaction and turn it into I will get down on my knees and pray reaction? It is a wonderful thing to pray God wants us to pray. Thank You again Lord!
