Here I was at the gas pump gazing out my windshield and started thinking about my attitude. I just got off the phone with my wife and began to compare my attitude with what I thought God wanted it to be.
The gas was still pumping and my mind was still turning, My six year old was with me and I asked her how she thought God wanted me to be. I thought she would give me a few nice things. But instead she rattled off a list, to the point where I had to write them all down!
It’s now my new gage that I am going to use and try to filter all my thoughts through, here’s her list:
Respectful, honorable, loving, praising, grateful, listening, obeying, forgiving, trusting and kind!
I am sure you could come up with more of course, but that’s what I needed right there and then, not to bad for a six year old! I started to compare her list to the way I was actually thinking and yes I made some adjustments to my attitude! Could you imagine if we did that daily?
My daughter’s attitude adjustment plan is powerful, I think she had a little help from above though!
Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
Philippians 2:5 (NIV)
“Lord, teach me to filter all thoughts through Your attitude! Amen.”
Ask God to teach you and you’ll always be able to say later, “God Taught Me!”
