Here you are you step up to the starting line, about to compete and you notice that your opponent is prideful. You look over to the referee, “Sir, wait a minute, time out please. But sir he’s prideful, he’s going to lose, is there someone else?” Your thinking, “This is going to be a waste of time, he’s prideful and he’ll be resisted by God. Is there anyone else?”
Wouldn’t it be something if that really happened? What if the whole world knew that God resists the proud? Could you imagine the Olympics? “And in this corner from the USA, Oh wait a minute, he’s prideful. Sorry folks this is going to be a waste of time. Give us a few, let’s go to a commercial break.” Behind the scenes they panic and search for another athlete, only to find none.
Now we know the world doesn’t operate that way, as a matter of fact pride is pumped up in our society. But we should operate that way, because we know it’s true, God does resist the proud and to walk in it is a waste of time!
….“ God resists the proud,
But gives grace to the humble.”
James 4:6 (NKJV)
“Lord, teach me how dangerous pride really is, teach me why You resist it. Amen.”
Ask God to teach you and you’ll always be able to say later, “God Taught Me!”
I suppose that is why I never like it when people brag about themselves. Even when I was Young and didn’t know the Lord I always steered away from the braggers!
