This morning I walked downstairs still half a sleep and started to pray. I began with, “Good morning Lord. Thank You for this & that.” And then right into, “Can you help me with this & that.” There’s nothing wrong with that of course, nothing at all. But I was tired and went right to my needs during prayer. Which again is fine.
But I said to myself, “Wait a minute here, Lord forgive me, let me start over. Lord You are worthy! You are worthy of my praise! Thank You for all You have done for me! Thank You for being You, thank You for the snow!” And on and on I went! After that I felt ready to pray.
Praise is powerful and it helps us put God in the proper place He needs to, First! Try praising the Lord for everything you can think of, press rewind if you have to and then just simply start over. Then let the praise rip out of your mouth with thanksgiving! Pray all you want after that, cause believe me He’s listening!
From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets,
the name of the LORD is to be praised.
Psalm 113:3 (NIV)
“Lord, forgive me for times I forgot to praise Your Holy name. Teach me Father how to live a life of praise from this day forward! Amen.”
Ask God to teach you and you’ll always be able to say later, “God Taught Me!”
